After the nervous change of guard in Gujarat 3 weeks ago, where the BJP completely overhauled its state government, there was some good news for the party. The party registered a landslide victory in the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation polls, with the party bagging 41 out of 44 seats. Congress won a paltry 2 and AAP got one seat. Polling for three municipalities - Okha and Bhanvad in Devbhumi-Dwarka district and Thara municipality of Banaskantha district also took place on October 3. Of these, the party won Thara and Okha, but suffered a setback in Bhanvad, where Congress won 16 out of 24 seats to push the BJP out of power after 26 years.
