Kerala BJP vice president VT Rema on October 28 said that Hamas leader Khaled Mashal’s virtual participation in a pro-Palestine rally at Malappuram was “shocking”. Speaking to ANI, VT Rema said “It was shocking news to hear...It is tragic and deplorable to see that in a secular country like India and in the southernmost state called Kerala a group of Islamic terrorists has shown their real mindset...Everybody knows Hamas attacked Israel in an unprecedented way without notice...” The Hamas leader took part in the event, which was organised by the Solidarity Youth Movement, the youth wing of Jamaat-e-Islami in Kerala. Mashal, a former Hamas chief, addressed the gathering virtually in Arabic.
