Old Pension Scheme: Maharashtra Govt Medical College Nurses, Clerical Staff begin protest in Nagpur

Government Medical College Nurses and Clerical Staff staged a protest on March 15 in Nagpur demanding the implementation of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). The protesters raised the slogans like “Single Mission Old Pension”. The strike will affect the hospital proceedings in the state as a large number of Nurses and Clerical Staff participated in the protest. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on March 13 announced to set up a committee to look into the demand. The BJP-led NDA government led by then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee scrapped the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) in 2003 and introduced the National Pension Scheme (NPS) from April 01, 2004.
