Tamil poet Subramanya Bharathi, sat on the stage

Fourteen children, aged around 10 to 12, all dressed as the Tamil poet Subramanya Bharathi, sat on the stage. Some were on a wheelchair, while others sat cross-legged. Together, they sang songs penned by Bharathi along with gestures. The children, all diagnosed with duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), a genetic condition, which causes progressive degeneration and weakness of muscles, were part of a seminar on ‘Social Inclusion Through Cultural Exchange’.
