Subhadraharanam or the theft of Subhadra is a performance or kathakali play written by Manthradathu Nambudiripad. The story is borrowed from Mahabharata. It is about Subhadra’s elopement with Pandava prince and renowned warrior Arjuna. They run away with the help of Lord Krishna, in the absence of their older brother Balarama. The programme was held recently at Changampuha Park in Kochi, and the uttarabhagam of the story was the one that got staged at the occasion. The story is quite popular on Kathakali stages.
