Kareena Kapoor Khan, Amrita Arora, Seema Khan and Maheep Kapoor tested COVID-19 positive earlier this week after they attended a get-together at filmmaker Karan Johar’s house in Mumbai. As per the latest reports, now, their COVID samples are being sent to Kasturba Hospital lab for genome sequencing. BMC officials said the reports are expected to come in the next 4-5 days. Karan Johar hosted a dinner party at his house on December 8, which saw several stars like Malaika Arora, Arjun Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, among others, in attendance. They had gotten together to celebrate 20 years of 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham'. Reportedly, it was Seema Khan who first tested positive for COVID-19. The same day, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Amrita Arora tested positive as well. After that, Maheep Kapoor, then her daughter Shanaya Kapoor. Karan Johar, however, tested negative. According to BMC officials, 110 people who had been in contact with those who contracted the virus after Karan's get together have been contacted and tested. All 110 people are negative. Amid all this, KJo and his gang from the party have been receiving backlash on social media and are being labelled 'superspreaders' of COVID-19. Kareena's spokesperson came to her defence and said, 'She and Amrita Arora contracted Covid-19 at an intimate dinner where a few friends had gathered to catch up. It wasn’t a big dinner, just a few people close to Bebo (Kareena Kapoor). There was one person in the group who seemed unwell and was coughing. This person should have been responsible enough to not attend the dinner and put others at risk. It is not fair to put the blame on her and say that she has been irresponsible and has let her guards down.' Karan Johar, on the other hand, shared a note on Instagram that read as, 'I would like to clarify that a 8 people intimate gathering is not a "party"...And my home which we maintain strict protocols is certainly no "hotspot" of COVID. All of us are responsible and masked at all times and NO one would treat that pandemic lightly... '
