Congress candidate Urmila Matondkar denies converting to Islam after marriage

Hours after Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar joined Congress, she was targeted by social media trolls over her religion. The trolls said that she had willfully converted to Islam after her marriage to Kashmiri businessman Mohsin Akhtar Mir. But now, Urmila has come forward and denied the allegations. In an interview with a leading media house, she said that she feels sorry for the trolls that showcase their narrow mentality by spreading such a thing. Meanwhile, a criminal complaint was filed against her by a BJP spokesperson accusing Urmila of making 'false' and 'mischievous' comments against Hindusim. She termed the complaint as 'bogus'. Urmila is contesting elections from North Mumbai constituency.
