Dharmendra tweets 'Jaan nikal gai meri' as he broke down holding 'brother' Dilip Kumar for the one last time

Bollywood recently lost a gem, a star, and an institution of acting Dilip Kumar. The 98-year-old actor breathed his last at Mumbai's Hinduja Hospital in the early hours of July 7, sending shockwaves across the entire nation and the film fraternity. Several celebs were seen reaching the residence of the departed soul to offer their condolences and pay their last respects. Among the first ones to reach the residence of late Dilip Kumar in Bandra was veteran actor Dharmendra, who looked up to the late actor as his own brother. Now, taking to his Twitter handle, a heartbroken Dharmendra penned a heartfelt tweet and dropped a picture wherein he could be seen sitting on the floor with the late actor's mortal remains. He tweeted in Hindi which loosely translates to, 'While holding his mortal remains, when Saira suddenly told me that look Dharam, Sahab has blinked, Jaan nikal gai meri. May God bless him with heaven'. In another tweet, he wrote, 'Friends, I don't like to show-off but am too emotional. I just speak out of understanding'. For the unversed, born as Mohammad Yusuf Khan on December 11, 1922, in Peshawar city, now in Pakistan, Dilip Kumar was admitted to the intensive care unit of Hinduja Hospital on June 29 following complaints of breathlessness. He was diagnosed with bilateral pleural effusion and was undergoing treatment for the same but succumbed to the illness as confirmed by the doctor treating the veteran actor. Well, this is not the first time Dharmendra has expressed his affection for the departed soul. Earlier when he got admitted to the hospital, the veteran actor urged everyone to pray for him as he tweeted in Hindi, 'Friends, Dilip Sahab is a man with a beautiful soul. Your prayers for this great actor will surely be fruitful.' He also shared a picture featuring Dilip Kumar and his wife Saira Banu. Well, both the actors have shared screen space in films like 'Jwaar Bhata', 'Paari' and 'Anokha Milan'.
