Popular singer Sonu Nigam recently alleged that he has been getting threats from BMC chief Iqbal Singh Chahal's cousin. Sonu, who was recently honoured with the Padma Shri, was connected to Rajinder by Iqbal Singh regarding a performance at an overseas concert. Since Sonu's concert detailing is looked after by a promoter, the singer apparently asked Rajinder to connect with him. However, it didn't go as intended and Iqbal Singh Chahal's cousin started sending 'threatening and derogatory messages' to the singer. A source close to Sonu Nigam revealed, 'Some of the things said in the messages are threatening in nature and ones that need to be investigated. The language used by Mr Rajinder in these messages has been undignified and came as a shock to Sonu Ji.' The source further claimed that Sonu has audio clips and screenshots of the conversation and chose not to report it because he respects Iqbal Singh Chahal. According to the source, Rajinder has been using his cousin's name to 'threaten and blackmail people' and he has done this with many other artists including Palak Muchhal. He further revealed that 'Sonu has their testimony', but the singer chose not to take any action.
