Election Commission of India appoints Sonu Sood as state icon of Punjab for his humanitarian work during COVID-19 pandemic

During the COVID-19 induced lockdown, actor Sonu Sood was a blessing to many migrant workers and those who lost their livelihood. In an attempt to honour the same, he has been appointed as the state icon of Punjab by the Election Commission of India (ECI). The actor has also reacted to the same and said, 'I am overwhelmed and extremely grateful for this honour. Having been born in Punjab, this appointment means so much to me, emotionally. I am happy to have made my state proud of me and I am motivated to keep working hard.'
