Born on December 19, 1919, in Jammu, Om Prakash was a famous supporting actor from the 1950s until the 1980s. One of the most versatile actors, Om Prakash was a household name with 307 movies to his credit in his five-decade-long career. With his characteristic giggle, innocent face, bright smile, and unmistakable charisma, Om Prakash is an unforgettable part of Bollywood. Om Prakash landed a job in All India Radio as a singer and actor in 1937 with a monthly salary of Rs 25. Om Prakash, who was also trained in classical music, got Rs 80 for his first major role in 'Daasi' (1944). Om Prakash's role in 'Azaad' (1955) brought him into the limelight and became a regular on the silver screen with movies such as 'Awara' (1951), 'Basant Bahar' (1956) and 'Howrah Bridge' (1958), among others. Om Prakash's work in the films, Padosan (1968), Buddha Mil Gaya (1971) Aa Gale Lag Jaa (1973), Chupke Chupke (1975), is considered to be among his best.
