Canada-based filmmaker of Indian origin Leena Manimekalai is currently facing severe backlash for hurting religious sentiments through a poster of her documentary ‘Kaali,’ which shows a woman dressed as Goddess Kaali smoking a cigarette. Following the outrage, Madhya Pradesh Police have now issued a lookout circular against the filmmaker. The development came after Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra said he would urge the central government to take action against Leena Manimekalai and issue a lookout circular against her. The documentary filmmaker is already facing FIRs in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh under the charges of criminal conspiracy, offense in a place of worship, deliberately hurting religious sentiments, and intention to provoke breach of peace.
