Kajol reveals father Shomu Mukherjee opposed her marriage to Ajay Devgn at 24, says ‘My dad didn’t talk to me for 4 days’

Be it on-screen or off-screen, power couple Ajay Devgn and Kajol have time and again wooed us with their impeccable chemistry. After four years of dating, the couple tied the knot in 1999. While Ajay's parents were on board, Kajol in her recent interview revealed that her dad Shomu Mukherjee had objected to her marriage at the age of 24. He opined that Kajol should work more before tying the knot. She added his parents were on board, but my dad didn’t talk to me for 4 days. He wanted me to focus on my career, but I was firm & he eventually came around. Again, there was no proposal–we just knew we wanted to spend our lives together. But her mother, veteran actress Tanuja, emerged as her massive supporter. Kajol revealed that her mother told her to go with her gut and she did exactly what she wanted to do. She continued, 'My mom was my biggest supporter, and told me to go with my gut. I have been lucky that everybody around has always stood up for me. So, I did exactly what I wanted to do. I didn't have to face patriarchy. Or maybe I faced it without realising because I can be oblivious in some situations'.Ajay Devgn and Kajol tied the knot on February 24, 1999, and this year they will celebrate 22 years of togetherness. Kajol is currently away in Singapore, staying with her daughter Nysa, who is pursuing her education there. While Ajay Devgn is fulfilling his daddy duties in Mumbai with his son Yug. While on the professional front the duo was last seen together in the historic drama 'Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior'.
