Bollywood actress Lara Dutta, feels she got to step out of her comfort zone, with her new web series that was released on OTT platform. Lara Dutta said that she has been a part of films like 'No Entry' and 'Housefull', where they deal exclusively in the masculine perspective of sex. Reportedly she said, βIn India we think that Indian women donβt have sexβ.She continued, βI donβt know who the men are having sex with. Itβs never discussed, people donβt want to talk about it. Itβs like, βItβs okay if youβre having... But we donβt want to know about it. Keep your sexuality under wraps' Lara said that she was grateful for getting a role like this, in which she can play βa 40-something protagonistβ and talk about issues βthat arenβt openly talked aboutβ. She said that her βrole modelsβ are actors such as Neena Gupta and Ratna Pathak Shah, who are doing films that point out that βthere is a life for women beyond getting married, having children, getting divorcedβ. Further Lara admitted that she didnβt bypass her husband Mahesh Bhupathiβs opinion, and was concerned about how their daughter Saira would respond to seeing her in a role like this. On this she added, βIβve never done anything without discussing it with Mahesh before. I think weβre a progressive family. Normally we talk to our friends about such things, we donβt talk to our family. I remember, sex education in school touched the periphery, but thatβs about it. Your parents never spoke to you about it. When my daughter was four years old, she wanted to know about divorce. Nine years old, she asked me, βWhat is a brothel?β I donβt know where she is hearing these things, but she is exposed to them. Itβs concepts she doesnβt understand, and it is my responsibility to explain it to her.β She concluded by saying that she doesnβt want to be the kind of mother that lies to her child, but supports creating an environment where such topics arenβt taboo.
