Tillotama Shome drops an 'unapologetic' picture of herself, showing off her armpit hair, says 'I wear it as I like it'

Bollywood actress Tillotama Shome, who has won a Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Critics) for her performance in 'Sir, never shies away in putting her views and opinions on the issues considered taboo in our society. Taking to her Instagram handle, she recently dropped an unapologetic picture of herself, showing off her armpit hair. Along with the picture, she penned a thoughtful note which says, 'I do say Sorry a lot. The worst is when I apologise in anticipation of someone's apology as if it's a Hello. I am sorry if I did something good because I could have done it better. The visceral ones, of course, slip out of your mouth in silence. The t-shirt is a reminder to use it less and mean it more. (Oh and about body hair, yeah not sorry about it. I wear it as I like it. It's not a statement. I also wax. I also don't.) Good day.' Coming across the post, several fans of her rushed to the comment section, showered their love upon her, and wrote all the good things. While one of the users wrote, 'You make me and this world happy!!', another one commented, 'Ah! The caption and the picture, both have my heart' Earlier, she made headlines when she opened up about falling prey to unrealistic beauty standards. While revealing that she said no to many 'maid' roles which came her way, in a conversation with a magazine, Tillotama said, 'I am grateful that the ‘Fair & Lovely’ obsession never entered our household. My parents were truly progressive, without even knowing it. After my debut in Monsoon Wedding, I became resentful of every offer that wanted me to play a maid. I did an American film in which the director tried to darken our skin further as we were looking too beautiful to be poor’. She further added, 'the idea of beauty is not just a post-colonial hangover with people being obsessed with fair skin, but is also damningly class-bound and regressive.' Meanwhile, on the work front, Tillotama Shome has starred in many critically acclaimed films like 'Shanghai', 'Qissa' and 'A Death in the Gunj'.
