After Meghan Markle's shocking revelations about the British Royal family in a celebrity chat show with Oprah Winfrey, global star Priyanka Chopra Jonas is also all set to appear in the same show with her. But, she is not the first Indian actress to feature in Oprah's show. Well, before anyone else in the film industry, former Miss World-actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had represented India and its culture on a global platform and impressed everyone around with her answers. While busting some misconceptions the West has had about India, the gorgeous actress, who is now married to actor Abhishek Bachchan, appeared on the chat show in the year 2005 and spoke efficiently about sexuality, arranged marriages, the English language, perceptions of American women in India, and skin colour. In the show, the actress was seen sensitizing Oprah Winfrey about Indian culture, and while speaking about kissing in public in India, Aishwarya said, 'It's not really a familiar sight. People kiss, but it doesn’t happen around the street corner. It's a more private expression of emotion, so I guess art imitates life and that comes across in our cinema.' Further talking about the system of arranged marriages in India, the 'Devdas' actress said, 'arranged marriages in urban India would be like a global dating service where the families study each other's backgrounds, and they bring (the) couple together, and they get engaged and they date and if it works they get along with the alliance, and if it doesn’t work they fall out'. Well interestingly, after 2005, the actress re-appeared on the same show in 2009 with her hubby-actor Abhishek Bachchan. Meanwhile, on the professional front, the actress has resumed work amid the coronavirus pandemic. She had recently stepped out for the first time since the nationwide lockdown to fly to Hyderabad to shoot for her next film 'Ponniyin Selvan' directed by Mani Ratnam.
