Many Bollywood stars have received threat calls from underworld gangsters in the past. Among them was Shah Rukh Khan, who also got threat calls from gangster Abu Salem, the mastermind behind Gulshan Kumar's murder. According to a report on a news portal, when SRK was at the peak of his career in 90s, Abu Salem once called up SRK and asked “Haan, kya chal raha hai? to which SRK replied, “Who’s this?” Abu Salem was upset with Shah Rukh's reaction and started abusing him. King Khan then asked, “What is the problem, sir?.” Abu told him that he had expected him to support and promote the people from his own community after Khan had refused to do a film of a Muslim filmmaker. Abu Salem then told SRK, “Log bolte the tu bahut proudy hai lekin tu bada sharif hai. Abhi police ki zaroorat nahin tereko. Main nahin maroonga.” Back then, although Abu Salem started calling SRK, he never asked for money. SRK had once said “He would tell me that he could see me. It was like living under a telescope.
