Suriya's 'Soorarai Pottru' releases in a Tamil Nadu theater after 15 months

Suriya's 'Soorarai Pottru' is one of the highly acclaimed Tamil films, but the film skipped its theatrical release for Diwali 2020. Due to the direct OTT release, 'Soorarai Pottru' was not allowed to screen in cinemas by the theaters association. It has disappointed Suriya fans since they couldn't enjoy their favorite star's film on big screens. However, the film was screened in several film festivals, it was not allowed to release in theaters in Tamil Nadu. But the film has been released today in a theater in Madurai, and the bookings for the film have been going on strong. 'Soorarai Pottru', which is directed by Sudha Kongara, is about the life of AR Deccan Founder GR Gopinath, and Suriya reprised his role in the classic drama. The film also had Aparna Balamurali, Urvashi, Paresh Rawal, Mohan Babu, and others in crucial roles, while the film's music was scored by GV Prakash Kumar. 'Soorarai Pottru' was India's official entry to the 93rd Academy Awards, but the film failed to pass to the final stage to bag the prestigious award. The film is produced by Suriya's 2D Entertainment in association with Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment, and the film is set to be remade in Hindi owing to its grand success.
