Two U.S. service members have been reported missing in southwestern Morocco after participating in African Lion 2026, the largest annual joint military exercise on the African continent, the United States Africa Command said. The pair disappeared near the Cap Draa Training Area close to the city of Tan Tan on May 2, prompting a coordinated search and rescue operation involving U.S., Moroccan, and partner forces, with ground, air, and maritime assets deployed as the urgent search continues.
