Iran has claimed that more than 650 US military personnel were killed and wounded within the first two days of its retaliatory Operation True Promise 4, with IRGC spokesman Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naeini stating the toll on Tuesday while acknowledging the US would deny or conceal the figures. Iran's military separately claimed it fired more than 700 drones and hundreds of ballistic missiles in the first 48 hours, a volume it says exceeds the total firepower deployed during the 12-day war. The US has confirmed four service members killed and has not corroborated Iran's broader casualty claims. Israel, meanwhile, confirmed its Air Force struck the Iranian regime's main leadership compound in the heart of Tehran overnight, hitting the presidential office, a senior leadership meeting complex and the compound of the Supreme National Security Council, the body responsible for Iran's strategic decisions. Israeli jets also targeted Hezbollah positions in Lebanon after the Iranian-backed group fired rockets and drones at Haifa in retaliation for the killing of Supreme Leader Khamenei. The conflict has spread rapidly beyond its original targets in less than 72 hours.
