Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro accused the United States of creating a “Hollywood-style terrorism narrative” to mask its intent to seize Venezuela’s vast natural resources. Speaking in Caracas on September 3, 2025, Maduro said Washington wants Venezuelan oil “for free” despite the nation holding the world’s largest reserves. He warned that U.S. interests extend beyond oil to Venezuela’s gas, gold, and fertile land. Citing U.S. wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya, Maduro accused Washington of lying to justify invasions.
