New Zealand has elected Christopher Luxon from the conservative party as its next Prime Minister. The incumbent PM and Labour leader, Chris Hipkins, has conceded defeat after holding power for six years. Notably, Hipkins took over the top position just nine months ago, succeeding Jacinda Ardern in January. The election campaign primarily revolved around economic challenges and the rising cost of living. Following the election results, Luxon, a former airline executive, expressed that New Zealanders had "reached for hope and voted for change." The National Party and its coalition partner ACT were on track to secure 62 seats in New Zealand's 120-seat parliament.
