Putin Vows Fiery Revenge After Ukrainian Drones Turn St. Petersburg Oil Refinery Into Fireball

Ukraine on Wednesday launched one of its deepest drone strikes yet into Russian territory, targeting an oil terminal in St. Petersburg just days before President Vladimir Putin is set to headline Russia’s flagship economic forum. Dramatic visuals showed flames and thick black smoke rising over the city’s port area after the attack. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared footage of the strike, claiming multiple strategic facilities inside Russia were successfully hit by coordinated long-range operations. Russian authorities confirmed that drones targeted infrastructure in St. Petersburg, while airport operations were temporarily suspended and mobile internet services restricted. The strike comes amid a sharp escalation in the conflict, a day after Russia launched a massive missile and drone barrage on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, killing at least 22 civilians and injuring more than 130.
