Tension gripped Kaua’i on Wednesday as water dramatically receded from Hanalei Bay, signaling a potential incoming tsunami. Live footage from Hanalei Bay Resort captured the eerie moment the sea began to pull away from the shore. Offshore buoys near Nawiliwili confirmed the arrival of initial tsunami waves, measuring around two feet. While not immediately destructive, the early waves raised alarms about more powerful surges possibly following. A witness on the beach warned that those still onshore could be in grave danger as the water disappeared rapidly, prompting fears of a deadly impact.
