Chhattisgarh: 10 Killed, 23 Injured As Boiler Explodes At Vedanta Power Plant

At least 10 workers were killed and 23 others injured in a boiler explosion at a power plant operated by Vedanta Limited in Sakti district of Chhattisgarh. Officials said the blast occurred in the afternoon, triggering a swift response from local administration and police teams, who launched rescue operations immediately. Sakti Collector Amirt Topno confirmed the updated toll, while Superintendent of Police Prafull Thakur had earlier reported initial casualties. Several victims died on the spot, while others succumbed to injuries in hospitals, including in nearby Raigarh district, where the injured are undergoing treatment. Authorities have evacuated workers from the area due to extreme heat, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the explosion. The company said it is prioritising medical care and coordinating with authorities as it probes the incident.
