'Energy Instability': Navy Chief Tripathi Flags 'Severe Economic Impact' Of Hormuz Disruption

Navy Chief Dinesh K Tripathi warned that maritime security dynamics are rapidly shifting amid the prolonged West Asia conflict. He pointed out that disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz are not only affecting energy flows but also creating wider economic uncertainty in the region. Highlighting future challenges, he stressed that global competition at sea is expanding beyond oil to include critical resources like rare earths, minerals, and strategic data routes. Addressing the IOS SAGAR initiative, he emphasized India’s commitment to strengthening naval partnerships, with foreign personnel actively training and sailing alongside Indian Navy crews to enhance coordination and regional security.
