Senior Congress leader and former chief minister of Kerala, Oommen Chandy passed away at the age of 79. His death was announced by his son, Chandy Oommen, through a Facebook post in which he simply stated, "Appa has passed away." Oommen Chandy took his last breath at a hospital in Bengaluru, where he was being treated for his ailments. For over 50 years, he had represented the Puthupally constituency in Kottayam district as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) and served twice as chief minister of Kerala. The Kerala Congress President, K Sudhakaran, expressed his condolences on the demise of the former chief minister.
