India and China must firmly oppose tariff wars and global protectionism, says Chinese Ambassador Xu Feihong. Marking 75 years of diplomatic ties, Xu emphasized that both nations must act with “global responsibility,” protect developing countries’ interests, and reject unilateral bullying. He noted bilateral trade has surged 10.5% this year, reaching $88 billion, and signaled China’s readiness to resume direct flights, pilgrimages, and business partnerships. With Xi and Modi holding multiple meetings, Xu said cooperation, not confrontation, should guide ties. His remarks come at a time of rising U.S.-China tensions, and global eyes are on whether Asia’s two giants can cooperate in safeguarding economic globalization.
