Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra on May 18 during the MEA press briefing informed regarding the PM’s visit to Japan for G7 summit. While addressing the briefing, he said that Prime Minister will leave for Hiroshima, Japan on the morning of May 19 to attend the G7 Summit. India to be the guest country in the G7 summit.Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra said, “The Prime Minister will leave for Hiroshima, Japan tomorrow morning (May 19) to attend the G-7 Summit. India to be the guest country in the G7 summit. On the sidelines of the G7 summit, besides his introduction to the G7 countries and other Western countries in the three structural sessions that I mentioned, Prime Minister will also hold bilateral discussions with several leaders in the G7 as also the guest countries and international organizations. The PM will also meet the Prime Minister of Japan and unveil the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Hiroshima. We are planning Quad leaders’ meeting in Hiroshima. For the second leg of his three-country visit, the PM will visit Papua New Guinea.”
