India's military rise is reflected in the latest SIPRI report, which ranks the country as the world's fifth-largest defence spender and estimates its nuclear arsenal at 190 warheads—surpassing Pakistan's 170. The report comes amid growing regional tensions and follows the severe India-Pakistan military crisis of May 2025.SIPRI notes that India is accelerating military modernisation, expanding long-range capabilities and preparing for challenges on multiple fronts. The findings also underscore a broader global trend: record military spending, expanding nuclear arsenals, and increasing concerns over strategic stability.
