Vice Admiral A.N. Pramod, Director General Naval Operations, has been awarded the Yudh Seva Medal for his role in planning and executing India’s naval response during Operation Sindoor. As the senior-most operational face of the Indian Navy, he played a central role in shaping maritime strategy during a period of heightened tensions. His leadership was marked by rapid operational readiness, including the deployment of ships and submarines, mobilisation of special forces, and forward positioning of naval assets in the North Arabian Sea. This posture enabled India to exert sustained pressure, effectively limiting the operational space of the Pakistan Navy without direct engagement. At a strategic level, his approach balanced escalation with control, ensuring that India’s response remained calibrated while retaining the flexibility to intensify operations if required. Vice Admiral Pramod also featured prominently in tri-service briefings, reflecting a unified military posture and a shift toward integrated communication during conflict. His recognition underscores the importance of maritime strategy in modern multi-domain operations.
