At a time of rising regional threats and shrinking squadron strength, India is moving fast on a massive Rafale expansion. The Defence Ministry will soon discuss a proposal to buy 114 Rafale jets, combining immediate combat readiness with long-term indigenisation. The deal includes integration of Indian weapons, local manufacturing, and a new engine maintenance hub in Hyderabad. Operational success during Operation Sindoor has reinforced trust in the Rafale platform, especially its ability to counter advanced Chinese missiles.
