Allegations of EVM tampering have surfaced from Booth Number 177 in Devipur under Falta constituency in South 24 Parganas. Reports claim that the BJP symbol on the Electronic Voting Machine was allegedly taped over during polling, triggering immediate tension at the booth. BJP candidate for the Falta assembly seat, Debangshu Panda, was present at the location when the incident was reported. The situation reportedly led to unrest among party workers and polling officials at the site. Following the incident, BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya alleged that similar irregularities were observed at multiple booths in the constituency. He claimed that the BJP voting options were blocked using tape and called for an immediate repoll in the affected areas. Malviya further described the incident as part of what he termed the “Diamond Harbour Model,” linking the allegations to Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee. He demanded urgent action and intervention from the Election Commission. These remain allegations at this stage, with no official confirmation issued by the election authorities regarding the claims.
