On India's 77th Independence Day, Bashir Ahamad, brother of Hizb-Ul-Mujahideen militant Irshad Ahmad, raised the National Flag in J&K's Doda. Despite Irshad's 'terrorist' designation under UAPA for ties to a terror group, his family organized a celebration. Children sang national songs. Irshad, a militant since 1994, crossed the Line of Actual Control. Presently in Pakistan's Islamabad, sources confirm his alias as Idrees. The event underscores complex sentiments amid conflict, as his family commemorates independence while he remains on the other side of the border.
