Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla invited PM Narendra Modi to dedicate the new Parliament on May 28. The inaugural date coincides with the 140th birth anniversary of Hindutva ideologue Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. The new Parliament will have a life of more than 150 years with a more than 150% increase in seating capacity of MPs. In the new Parliament building, 888 members will be able to sit in the Lok Sabha, compared to 543 members in the current House.
