Supporters of 'Waris Punjab De' chief Amritpal Singh break through police barricades brandishing guns in Amritsar

The supporters of self-styled preacher and head of 'Waris Punjab De' Amritpal Singh went on a rampage in Punjab's Amritsar on Thursday. Armed with swords, lathis and guns they attacked police, broke barricades and gathered outside Ajnala police station. Stones were also pelted. The supporters had gathered outside the police station in order to protest against the arrest of Amritpal Singh's close aide Lovepreet Toofan. The situation tense and a heavy police force has been deployed in the area. The Punjab Police had recently registered an FIR against the Khalistan activist Amritpal Singh Sandhu as well as his associates on charges including abduction and rioting.
