‘Elle’ will take viewers back to Elle Woods’ high school years in Prime Video’s upcoming ‘Legally Blonde’ prequel series. The teaser trailer introduces the characters' early life experiences that shaped them before the events of the first film. Season 1 will premiere on Prime Video on July 1, and the streamer has already renewed the show for Season 2.
Elle teaser trailer reveals high school story
As reported by Variety, the official logline says the series “follows Elle Woods in high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first ‘Legally Blonde’ film.”
Lexi Minetree stars as the young Elle Woods in her first leading role. She previously appeared in smaller parts in ‘Law & Order: SVU,’ ‘The Murdaugh Murders,’ ‘Crowdsource Murder’ and ‘The Paramedic Who Stalked Me.’ June Diane Raphael will play Elle’s mother, while Tom Everett Scott will play her father. The cast also includes Chloe Wepper, David Burtka, Brad Harder, Kayla Maisonet and Lisa Yamada as recurring guest stars.
'Elle' cast and season 2 renewal details
The recurring cast features Gabrielle Policano, Jacob Moskovitz, Chandler Kinney, Zac Looker, Jessica Belkin, Logan Shroyer, Amy Pietz, Matt Ober, Chloe Wepper, David Burtka, Brad Harder, Kayla Maisonet, Lisa Yamada and the late James Van Der Beek.
Production on ‘Elle’ began in April 2025. Witherspoon marked the start of filming on Instagram with a photo of Minetree and wrote, “Harvard was hard. High School was harder. Our new series, Elle, is now in production!”
‘Elle’ has already been renewed for a second season before Season 1’s debut. Season 2 production is set to begin this spring.
Laura Kittrell created the series. She also serves as co-showrunner and executive producer with Caroline Dries. Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Marc Platt, Amanda Brown and Jason Moore also executive produce. Moore directed the first two episodes.
