Bolstering ties with India, Israel on November 21 declared Lashkar-e-Taiba as a terror organisation. The move has been made to mark the 15th year of commemoration of the Mumbai terror attacks. Notably, Israel did so independently without any formal request from the Indian government. The state of Israel has formally completed all necessary procedures and has satisfied all required checks and regulations.“While Israel only lists terror organizations who are actively operating against it from within or around its borders, or in a similar manner to India - those globally recognized by UNSC or the US state department; the Israeli ministries of Defense and Foreign affairs, have jointly worked in the last few months towards an expediated and extraordinary listing of the Lashkar -e- Taiba organization on this date, to highlight the importance of a Unified Global Front in combating terrorism,” Israel Embassy in India wrote to the Indian Government. Israeli President Isaac Herzog recalled 26/11 Mumbai attacks and drew parallels with Oct 07 Hamas attacks. President Herzog extended his gratitude to India for their shared interests and efforts to combat terrorism. Israel Embassy also recalled LeT’s “heinous” act of carrying out 26/11 attacks and termed it a “deadly” terror organization. The deadly Mumbai attacks were carried out by 10 gunmen who were connected to LeT, a Pakistan-based terrorist organization. Israel’s move comes weeks after its Ambassador to India urged New Delhi to designate Hamas as a terror organisation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among first world leaders to condemn terror attack by Hamas on Israel on October 7. #israelhamaswar #israel #lashkaretaiba #pmmodi #benjaminnetanyahu Subscribe to The Times of India's YouTube channel: http://goo.gl/WgIatuFor daily news & updates and exclusive stories, follow the Times of IndiaFacebook:https://www.facebook.com/TimesofIndiaInstagram:https://www.instagram.com/timesofindia/Download the app: http://toi.in/3SLUCa80Follow the TOI WhatsApp channel: https://bit.ly/3RYl0J9Follow TOI+ for well-researched and in-depth news and analysisFacebook:https://www.facebook.com/timesofindiaplusTwitter:https://twitter.com/TOIPlusInstagram:https://www.instagram.com/toi_plus/

Indian Air Force Begins Process To Replace 20-Year-Old VIP Jets Used By Ministers And Military Chiefs

The Indian Air Force has formally initiated the procurement process for a new fleet of long-range business jets to replace its ageing VIP transport aircraft, issuing a Request for Information for four to six new jets under the Defence Acquisition Procedure 2020 with a 30-percent offset clause. The move aims to modernise the Pegasus Squadron, the Air Headquarters Communication Squadron at Palam Air Base in New Delhi. The current fleet of four Embraer Legacy 600 aircraft, inducted on September 21, 2005 and named Meghdoot, Vayudoot, Nabhdoot and Gagandoot, have been in service for over two decades and are now due for phased replacement. Vendor responses are due by April 15, 2026, with a formal Request for Proposal expected by mid-2027 and delivery timelines projected between 2029 and 2031. The long-range business jets are distinct from Air India One, the specially modified Boeing 777 jets reserved exclusively for the President, Vice President and Prime Minister. The new fleet will instead serve senior cabinet ministers including Defence, Finance, Home and External Affairs, as well as the chiefs of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. The procurement comes amid renewed focus on executive aviation safety following the January 28 crash of a privately operated Learjet 45XR in Baramati that killed Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and four others, an accident that has lent fresh urgency to the IAF's long-planned modernisation effort.
