‘True gentleman’: Family mourns UK police officer killed in Farningham crash while on duty
PC Bradley Corke, a Kent Police officer, died on Saturday after being critically injured in a collision in Farningham, near Swanley, two days earlier. He had been responding to an “immediate” call when his marked police car was involved in the crash.A colleague travelling with him was left in critical condition, while a member of the public in the other vehicle also sustained serious injuries.

‘Our beautiful boy… taken too soon’

In a heartfelt tribute released through Kent Police, his family described him as a “true gentleman” and “one of the finest young men ever to have walked this earth.”“Our beautiful boy, so cruelly taken away from us far too young,” the statement read.“Son, we are broken and will probably never recover from your loss… we love you with every ounce of our being.”They said Corke was proud to serve as a police officer and that they had been deeply moved by the outpouring of condolences and stories from people he had helped.

A dedicated officer remembered

Corke had joined Kent Police in May 2022 and served communities across West Kent. Colleagues described him as a popular and committed officer.Kent Police said he “selflessly gave his life while trying to save others,” adding that his bravery and dedication would not be forgotten.

‘Policing is a family’

Neil Mennie, chair of the Kent Police Federation, said the force was “absolutely heartbroken” by the loss.“Policing is a family and words cannot describe the pain we are all feeling,” he said, adding that support would be provided to Corke’s family and colleagues.

Probe underway

The crash, involving a marked Ford Focus police car and another vehicle, took place on the A20 London Road on Thursday evening. Authorities have launched an investigation and are appealing for information.The incident has once again highlighted the risks faced by officers in the line of duty.
