NDA, BJP lead in Assam, Puducherry and West Bengal as counting progresses
Across four states, counting is well underway with leads taking shape in Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Puducherry. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat assembly, NDA holds a tally of 97, having won 28 and leading in 69 more, crossing the majority mark on current trends. Congress-led alliance is at a tally of 22, all leads, while independent and other party candidates cumulatively account for a tally of 7. In Tamil Nadu, the majority mark stands at 118 in a 234-seat house. SPA has a tally of 60, with 7 won and 53 leads, while NDA trails with a tally of 55. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead in Tamil Nadu with a combined tally of 115, needing 3 more to cross the majority mark if those leads hold. In West Bengal, BJP is leading in enough seats to cross the 148-seat majority mark in the 294-seat assembly, carrying a tally of 179 with 11 won and 168 leads. TMC trails with a tally of 106, comprising 2 won and 104 leads. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 8 in West Bengal. In Puducherry, NDA has crossed the majority mark of 16 in the 30-seat assembly on current tallies, with 13 seats won and 5 leads giving it a tally of 18. SPA stands at a tally of 5, while independent and other party candidates cumulatively account for a tally of 7.
