NDA, BJP lead in Assam, Puducherry and West Bengal as counting progresses
Across four state assemblies, counting is well underway and early trends are taking shape. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in a 126-seat house, NDA has won 28 seats and is leading in 69 more, giving it a tally of 97. Congress and its allies are leading in 22 seats with no wins declared yet. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 7 in Assam. In Tamil Nadu, the majority mark stands at 118 in a 234-seat assembly. SPA has won 7 seats and is leading in 53, putting its tally at 60, while NDA is leading in 55 with no wins confirmed yet. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 115, needing 3 more to cross the majority mark if those leads hold. In West Bengal, BJP has won 11 seats and is leading in 168, giving it a tally of 179 against a majority mark of 148 in the 294-seat house, meaning BJP is leading in enough seats to cross the majority mark if those leads hold. TMC has a tally of 106, with 2 wins and 104 leads, trailing BJP at this stage. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 8 in West Bengal. In Puducherry, where 16 seats decide a majority in the 30-seat assembly, NDA has won 13 seats and is leading in 5 more for a tally of 18, crossing the majority mark on current leads.
