NDA leads in Assam and Puducherry as counting progresses across four states
Across Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Puducherry, counting is well underway with leads shifting across the board. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat assembly, NDA has a tally of 97, with 28 seats won and 69 leads, crossing the majority mark if those leads hold. Congress and its allies are trailing with a tally of 22, all in leads. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively account for a tally of 7 in Assam. In Tamil Nadu, where the majority mark stands at 118 in a 234-seat house, candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead with a tally of 115, comprising 10 won seats and 105 leads, still 3 seats short of the majority mark. SPA has a tally of 60, with 7 won and 53 leading, while NDA trails with a tally of 55, all in leads. West Bengal, the largest contest with 294 seats and a majority mark of 148, sees BJP leading with a tally of 179, including 11 won seats and 168 leads, crossing the majority mark if those leads hold. TMC is trailing with a tally of 106, with 2 won and 104 leading. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively account for a tally of 8 in West Bengal. In Puducherry, where 16 seats are needed for a majority in the 30-seat assembly, NDA has a tally of 18, with 13 seats already won and 5 leads, crossing the majority mark on current trends. SPA has a tally of 5, with 2 won and 3 leading, while candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 7 in Puducherry.
