NDA, BJP lead across Assam, Puducherry and West Bengal
Across four states going to the polls, counting is well underway with leads shaping up sharply in Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Puducherry. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat assembly, NDA has won 20 seats and is leading in 77 more, giving it a tally of 97. In Tamil Nadu, the majority mark stands at 118 in a 234-seat house. West Bengal, with 294 seats and a majority mark of 148, sees BJP leading the count with 8 seats won and 192 leads, putting its tally at 200, well past the majority threshold on current trends. TMC has won 1 seat and is leading in 83, for a tally of 84. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 9 in West Bengal. In Puducherry, where 16 seats are needed for a majority in the 30-seat assembly, NDA has won 13 seats and is leading in 7 more, giving it a tally of 20. SPA has a tally of 5, with 2 seats won and 3 leads. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 5 in Puducherry.
