NDA, BJP, UDF lead as counting progresses across four states
Votes are being counted across four state assemblies and the picture is taking shape at different paces in each. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat house, NDA has won 28 seats and is leading in 69 more, giving it a tally of 97. The Congress-led alliance is leading in 22 seats. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 7 in Assam. In Tamil Nadu, the majority mark stands at 118 in a 234-seat assembly. SPA has won 7 seats and is leading in 53, putting its tally at 60, while NDA is leading in 55 seats with no seats won yet, giving it a tally of 55. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead in 105 seats with 10 won, a tally of 115, and still need 3 more to cross the majority mark if those leads hold. In West Bengal, BJP has won 11 seats and is leading in 168, taking its tally to 179 in the 294-seat house where 148 are needed for a majority. BJP's tally has crossed the majority mark if those leads hold. TMC has won 2 and is leading in 104, with a tally of 106. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 8 in West Bengal. In Kerala, UDF has won 68 seats and is leading in 19 more, giving it a tally of 87 in the 140-seat assembly where 71 are needed. UDF's tally has crossed the majority mark if those leads hold. LDF has won 30 and is leading in 6, with a tally of 36. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 17 in Kerala.
