Viacom 18 to initiate legal action against Abhay Deol?
Abhay Deol’s production One By Two, the rights of which were acquired by Viacom18 Motion Pictures, has opened to a lukewarm response. And this is only adding to the upright actor’s perils.
One hears that the film corporation, who have the theatrical, audio, video, overseas and satellite rights of the film, are in the process of taking legal recourse against the actor.

It so happens that Abhay is one of the crusaders of the copyright issue and he has refused to ask his composers Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy to sign what he termed “an illegal clause” whereby T-Series, the music company that was to put his music in the market, took a backseat and refused to do so.
This stand taken by Abhay has caused the corporation to lose the revenue that they would have normally got from the sale of music (audio) rights. Hence, they are reportedly looking to ask the actor to compensate them for the monies they would have otherwise received for the music rights. We texted Abhay, but he hadn’t reverted till the time we went to press.
Why Abhay and T-Series locked horns
T-Series requires producers to submit a contract whereby musicians surrender all their rights. Musicians state that such contracts are illegal under the rights given to them by the Copyright Act.
