Raftaar: I started my career in Noida

With so many colleges and private events, musical acts are quite common in Noida. While most artistes admit that their familiarity with Noida is primarily due to their concerts here, rapper Raftaar says that his association with the city goes back to his own college days. He says, ���I am a Malayali but I moved to Delhi a long time ago. So most of my friends are from the NCR. And Noida was an adda for me when I lived in Delhi. You know how college days are. You roam around with friends and try and find new places to explore.I would often drive down to Noida with friends for jamming or just hanging out. And Atta Market was one place I remember very clearly because I would go there a lot, just chilling with friends.���
At a recent Noida concert, Raftaar had mentioned how he would spend a lot of time in the city before he became famous. Talking to students at a private university in Noida, he had reportedly said, ���Many singers from Delhi happened to frequent Noida kyunki sabki ek Noida-wali girlfriend hoti thi. I was no different.���
Yo Yo Honey Singh again disses Raftaar
When asked about his Noida-wali girlfriend comment, the rapper laughs and says, ���Arey woh Noida mein rehti nahi thi par yahan ke college mein padhne aati thi.��� Before you prod him further on his Noida romance, he says, ���But I���d rather not talk about it now. Shaadi honi hai ab, daant padegi ghar pe if I say something.��� Does that mean he���s getting married? ���Woh baat baad mein karte hain,��� he says, refusing to divulge any details.
But it wasn���t all fun and games for Raftaar in Noida. The singer says that the city holds a special place for him as this is where he started his music career. ���I technically started my career as a professional rapper in the city because it was here I had my first paid gig. It was at a pub in Sector 18 some six-seven years ago that I first performed. Back then, I hadn���t even assumed my stage name. Noida is special because it is here that my journey began,��� he says.
