From extreme weight changes to striking prosthetic transformations, these performances go far beyond routine acting. Let's take a look at some of those stunning transformations in Bollywood.

​Kartik Aaryan

Kartik Aaryan grabbed attention with his intense makeover for 'Chandu Champion'. The film, directed by Kabir Khan, features him as Paralympic gold medallist, Murlikant Petkar. To prepare for role, Kartik underwent a strict fitness regime and he built a lean and muscular body over time. His body fat percentage dropped from 39% to just 7% within a year. This transformation required discipline and consistency. What made it more impressive was that it was achieved naturally.

​Randeep Hooda’s shocking weight loss


Randeep Hooda is known for his commitment to roles and he has undergone drastic transformations more than once. In 2016, for Sarbjit, he lost nearly 28 kilograms in just 20 days. He played Sarbjit Singh, a man imprisoned in Pakistan after crossing the border unknowingly and his frail look shocked audiences also itt added realism to the character.
He repeated this dedication years later. For Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, he reportedly shed 30 kilograms. This transformation helped him portray the revolutionary leader convincingly.

​Amitabh Bachchan


Amitabh Bachchan delivered a remarkable transformation in 'Paa'. He played a 12-year-old boy suffering from progeria. To achieve this look, he used heavy prosthetic makeup and his physical appearance changed completely. He became almost unrecognizable on screen. Despite the complex makeup, he portrayed the innocence of a child and it earned him widespread acclaim from audiences and critics alike.

​Kamal Haasan


Kamal Haasan once again pushed boundaries with his role in 'Kalki 2898 AD'. He appeared in a dramatic new avatar and his look included prosthetics, a bald head, and an aged appearance. This created a mysterious and otherworldly presence. The movie featured Prabhas in the lead and it marked the comeback of the actor after a long gap after 'Baahubali'.

​Nawazuddin Siddiqui


In 'Haddi', Nawazuddin Siddiqui delivered a powerful transformation. He portrayed a transgender character with sensitivity. His appearance included sarees, subtle makeup, and expressive gestures. This role highlighted his versatility. It also showed his willingness to take risks as an actor.

​Rajkummar Rao


Rajkummar Rao is known for going the extra mile. In 'Trapped', he played a man stuck without food or water. To look convincing, he lost 7 kilograms in just 22 days. Reports suggest he survived on a carrot and a cup of coffee daily. This helped him appear visibly weak and malnourished. He later gained 11 kilograms in a month for Bose: Dead/Alive. He portrayed Subhash Chandra Bose in the series. This showed his ability to adapt physically for different roles.

​Bhumi Pednekar


The actress also underwent a major transformation for her debut 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha', produced by Yash Raj Films, she gained 27 kilograms. Her weight reached 92 kilograms by the end of the shoot. After the film, she lost the entire weight. She shed 27 kilograms before starting Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. She later wrote a note on Instagram that read, "It’s been 9 years… Am so grateful to be able to wake up every day and do what I love so deeply. All I ever wanted was to be an actor. I manifested this as a child. I believed this is going to happen to me and here we are. Every opportunity that came my way took me a step closer to my dream. From my 1st job as a casting assistant to Dum laga ke haisha to Bhakshak it been so fulfilling. Thank you my audience for accepting me with such love. All my filmmaker’s , co stars and my support team am full of gratitude. A special shoutout to @shanoosharmarahihai for being there when I needed it the most."
