As Maha Shivratri is approaching, the great night of Lord Shiva, devotees indulge in practices that can harness the positive blessings of Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is a powerful figure in Hinduism and one of the trinity gods, the god of both destruction and transformation. There are certain things that are very dear to him, offering them can unlock the destiny and blessings of Lord Shiva. These things are:-



Bel Patra (Bilva Leaves) – Bel patra, also known as bilva leaves, are considered sacred and dear to Lord Shiva. Offering these three-leaf clusters symbolizes purity, devotion, and the holy trinity. Devotees believe that presenting bel patra with utmost devotion pleases Lord Shiva and invites his divine blessings.



Bhaang – Bhaang, a preparation made from the leaves and flowers of the cannabis plant, is associated with Lord Shiva's worship. Devotees offer bhaang as a sacrament during religious ceremonies, believing it has purifying and calming effects. It is essential to approach this offering with respect and moderation, recognizing its spiritual significance. One can also offer only bhang leaves to Shivling.

Chandan (Sandalwood) – Chandan, or sandalwood paste, is an integral part of Lord Shiva's worship. Devotees apply chandan on the Shiva Lingam as a symbol of purity and coolness. Offering sandalwood paste represents the devotee's desire for spiritual growth and inner calmness.



Milk – Milk, a symbol of nourishment and purity, is a common offering to Lord Shiva. Devotees pour milk over the Shiva Lingam as a gesture of devotion and humility. It is believed that this offering pleases Lord Shiva and brings his divine blessings.

It is believed to bring prosperity and blessings. It is also believed that Lord Shiva resides in leaves of peepal tree, whereas Lord Brahma resides in roots and Lord Vishnu in trunk.
