12 Jyotirlinga temples to visit according to your Rashi (Moon Sign)

There are 12 Jyotirlinga (self manifested) temples across India. The importance of visiting these temples are elaborately mentioned in the Shiva Purana, where lord manifests as an infinite pillar of light. These 12 revered shrines carry their own legend, story, and spiritual beauty. Though all temples are equally beautiful and have religious benefits, it is said that every zodiac sign is associated with one particular Jyotirlinga which carries a divine energy.

Shiva is believed to be an ultimate protector and destroyer. The lord destroys negative energy and blesses devotees with good health, wealth and prosperity. On this note, let’s have a look at these temples and which one should you visit as per your Moon sign.

The 12 Jyotirlinga Temples:

Somnath (Prabhas Patan, Gujarat) Mallikarjuna (Srisailam, Andhra Pradesh) Mahakaleshwar (Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh)
Omkareshwar (Madhya Pradesh)
Kedarnath (Uttarakhand)
Bhimashankar (Maharashtra)
Kashi Vishwanath (Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh)
Trimbakeshwar (Maharashtra)
Vaidyanath (Baidyanath) (Deoghar, Jharkhand)
Nageshwar (Dwarka area, Gujarat)
Ramanathaswamy (Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu) Grishneshwar (Aurangabad, Maharashtra)
Now let’s have a look at different Rashi’s and temples associated with them:

2/13

Ramanathaswamy, Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu

Aries are fiery and dynamic personalities. These people can find balance in the serene waters of Rameswaram, where Lord Shiva absolved Lord Rama of his karmic burden. Ramanathaswamy Temple’s sacred corridors and sea baths calm the impulsive nature of Aries natives. Visiting this shrine promotes patience and inner purity.

3/13

Taurus (Vrishabh) – Somnath, Gujarat

Taureans are grounded people and look for stability in life. Such natives resonate with Shiva in Somnath, the “Protector of the Moon.” The temple has seen several invasions and has stood the test of time. This mirrors Taurus’ unshakable patience and endurance. Worshipping here enhances spiritual stability for this earth sign.

4/13

Gemini (Mithun) – Nageshwar, Gujarat

Geminis are curious and dual-natured people. These natives connect deeply with Nageshwar, where Shiva defeated the demon Daruka. The temple has a calming ambience which is said to balance Gemini’s restless mind and boosting clarity. Pilgrimage here inspires communication with one’s higher self, transcending worldly pleasures.

5/13

Cancer (Karka) – Omkareshwar, Madhya Pradesh

Cancerians are sensitive and nurturing people. These people find peace in Omkareshwar, an island shaped like the sacred syllable “Om.” It has an otherworldly ambience which ignites maternal calmness and soothes emotional turbulence which is common in Cancerians. Lord Shiva here teaches that true protection arises from inner peace.

6/13

Leo (Simha) – Vaidyanath, Jharkhand

Majestic Leo resonates with Vaidyanath Jyotirlinga, where Shiva became the divine healer for the suffering. The temple symbolises the power of compassion balancing Leo’s royal pride. A visit here restores vitality, and emotions. For Leos, Lord Vaidyanath transforms ego into benevolent strength.

7/13

Virgo (Kanya) – Mallikarjuna, Andhra Pradesh

Perfectionist and pure-hearted, Virgo connects with Mallikarjuna. This abode of divine discipline and grace is surrounded by the Nallamala hills. Pilgrimage here refines analytical energy into spiritual devotion. Shiva and Parvati’s presence teaches Virgos the harmony between duty and compassion.

8/13

Libra (Tula) – Mahakaleshwar, Madhya Pradesh

Librans believe in equality and have a balanced approach. They are naturally drawn to Mahakaleshwar, the only south-facing Jyotirlinga that governs time and justice. The temple’s powerful energy offers Librans an insight into equilibrium in life and relationships. Worship here helps overcome indecision and restores mental peace.

9/13

Scorpio (Vrishchik) – Grishneshwar, Maharashtra

Scorpions are passionate and transformative. These natives find reflection in Grishneshwar, the shrine of rebirth and divine union. This is the place where Shiva restores life and teaches surrender. Visiting Grishneshwar helps channel their intensity into spiritual awakening.

10/13

Sagittarius (Dhanu) – Kashi Vishwanath, Uttar Pradesh

Sagis are adventurous and philosophical. Their energy resonates with Kashi Vishwanath, the light of universal knowledge. This temple in Varanasi embodies liberation through wisdom — a Sagittarius ideal. Lord Vishwanath inspires Sagittarians to seek truth beyond the world.

11/13

Capricorn (Makar) – Bhimashankar, Maharashtra

Ambitious Capricorn aligns with Bhimashankar. It is here where Shiva killed the demon Tripurasura to restore cosmic order. This Jyotirlinga rewards discipline and perseverance — Capricorn’s greatest traits. Lord Bhimashankar teaches that duty performed with devotion leads to liberation.

12/13

Aquarius (Kumbh) – Kedarnath, Uttarakhand

Set in the Himalayas, visionary Aquarians connect with Kedarnath which symbolise spiritual elevation. The temple’s remoteness mirrors Aquarius’ independent and contemplative nature. Visiting here awakens higher ideals of service and detachment. Lord Kedarnath blesses Aquarians with wisdom to serve humanity through spirituality.

13/13

Pisces (Meena) – Trimbakeshwar, Maharashtra

Pisceans are dreamy and compassionate. These natives find spiritual completion in Trimbakeshwar. The temple’s tranquil energy adds to intuition and divine connection. Worship here purifies emotional depths and dissolves ego barriers. For them, Lord Trimbakeshwar signifies the merging of soul and Shiva.
