Honda WN7 electric bike patent filed in India: All you need to know
Japanese two-wheeler giant Honda has filed a design patent for its WN7 electric motorcycle in India, hinting at the company’s future plans in the premium EV space. While the patent filing in India has sparked discussions about a possible launch, the chances of the WN7 arriving here appear slim for now. Here’s a quick look at the details.
The Honda WN7 carries a sharp streetfighter-inspired design with a muscular central body section that houses the battery pack. At the front, the bike gets a compact LED headlamp setup along with slim DRLs and a small flyscreen that gives it an aggressive look.
The side profile features sculpted panels designed to resemble the fuel tank area of a conventional motorcycle. Exposed frame sections, angular body panels and the absence of an exhaust further highlight its electric identity.
The rear section follows a minimalistic design theme with a floating-style tail and slim seat setup. Honda has also equipped the motorcycle with premium cycle parts including USD front forks, sporty alloy wheels and large disc brakes.
Powering the electric bike is a single motor producing 50.4 kW, which translates to around 67.5 bhp, along with 100 Nm of torque. The bike draws energy from a 9.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and is claimed to deliver a range of up to 130 km on a single charge.
The WN7 also supports CCS2 fast charging technology. Using a fast charger, the battery can be charged from 20 per cent to 80 per cent in under 30 minutes. Apart from this, the motorcycle also supports standard AC charging for overnight charging needs. Despite packing a large battery and performance-focused hardware, the bike has a kerb weight of 217 kg.
In the UK market, the Honda WN7 has been introduced at a starting price of GBP 12,999, which roughly converts to Rs 16.74 lakh.
